Long term or short term you should keep track of the people & businesses with whom you do any transaction. When you use credit cards or write a check, always be in the habit of jotting down some notes. These items may include things like a phone number, physical address, contact persons name, the date of your transaction or any other identifying information you may need at a later date. The simple act of writing a quick note will help you keep track of money you spend and with whom.
